In September 2024, Vietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS) made a historic step when carrying out the first LNG transport from the South to the North by train. This event not only demonstrates PV GAS's commitment to optimizing the energy value chain but also affirms the enterprise's pioneering position in building a sustainable energy future for the country.
PV GAS is actively implementing an integrated energy business model, with the goal of bringing LNG to all regions of the country through new transportation methods. Using ISO Tank to transport LNG by rail is not only a groundbreaking innovation but also helps address the growing energy demand, especially in the Northern region.
ISO Tank LNG is designed according to international standards, allowing natural gas to be stored at -162°C in liquid form. PV GAS's LNG infrastructure system, including import port, storage and export station at Thi Vai (Ba Ria - Vung Tau), has been operating effectively since March 2024, providing LNG to the Southern and South Central markets.
Faced with rising energy demand from economic centers, PV GAS has developed an integrated energy business model, allowing the supply of LNG to areas far from import centers. Multimodal transportation plans will help quickly bring green energy to all parts of the country at a reasonable cost.
ISO Tanks will be loaded with LNG at Thi Vai Central LNG Terminal and then transported by road to the railway station, preparing for the first North-South LNG transport train in September 2024. PV GAS has worked closely with Vietnam Railway Corporation (VNR) to ensure technical standards and safe transportation conditions.
This train is not only a testament to PV GAS's strategic vision but also demonstrates its ability to flexibly adapt in the new energy era. With determination to complete the energy value chain, PV GAS affirms its brand and pioneering role in the LNG field in Vietnam, while aiming to become the leading energy industrial group of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group.
