In the leading role of the gas industry, Vietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS) is implementing emergency measures in the North to ensure a stable gas supply for both industry and civil use. PV GAS is also completing the clean energy supply map nationwide through transporting LNG from South to North by rail.
Stabilizing Gas Supply
PV GAS has made efforts to restore industrial production and consumption activities. Since September 9, 2024, the company has maintained a stable gas supply in the Northern region, with the safe operation of the Ham Rong-Thai Binh gas system, providing low-pressure gas and CNG to meet maximum customer demand. In addition, PV GAS supplies LPG from floating storage systems in Thai Binh and Hai Phong with an output of about 2,000 - 3,000 tons/day, ensuring a continuous supply with stable prices from domestic and imported gas sources.
First LNG Transport to the North
At 18:00 on September 9, 2024, the train carrying 16 ISO tanks containing LNG completed the 1,700 km journey from South to North, safely arriving at Dong Anh station (Hanoi). Here, LNG is transferred to specialized tank trucks to serve industrial consumers. This event marks an important turning point for the gas and rail transport industry in Vietnam, enhancing PV GAS's LNG supply chain and completing the national energy map.
Developing a Comprehensive Energy Value Chain
LNG was first presented in Vietnam in July 2023 through PV GAS Vung Tau terminal and was immediately supplied to Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and industrial consumers in the Southeast. However, the North still lacks LNG import infrastructure, making it difficult to access this fuel source. With support from Vietnam Railway Corporation (VNR), PV GAS succeeded in transporting the first LNG to the North, committing to providing diverse gas products (pipeline gas, LPG, CNG and LNG) in a stable and competitive manner.
Affirming its Leading Role in the Gas Industry
PV GAS not only maintains stable energy supply but also participates in optimizing the country's transportation infrastructure and gas industry. The company and Petrovietnam continue to affirm their leading role in the energy market and gas industry, towards sustainable development and clean energy use.
